NWS confirms tornado touched down Wednesday evening in Medina County

SAN ANTONIO — A day after destructive storms ripped through houses and businesses in communities west of San Antonio, the National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down and contributed to the damage.
It remains to be seen, however, exactly how strong the twister was. A damage rating is expected Friday.
The NWS says the tornado touched down “a few miles southeast of Hondo to a few miles south of Castroville.” Local communities were still cleaning up in the aftermath of the storms on Thursday.
