Tropical Storm Elsa expected to hit Florida Keys Tuesday
HOUSTON — Tropical Storm Elsa continues to make its way toward Florida. At 10 p.m. Monday, the storm was about 80 miles south-southwest of Key West, Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center. It was moving north-northwest at about 12 mph.
Elsa is expected to reach the Florida Keys early Tuesday before moving over the west coast of Florida late Tuesday and into Wednesday.
The NHC said the storm could produce about 2 to 4 inches of rain and possibly up to 6 inches in parts of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Tornadoes are possible in southern Florida on Monday night through Tuesday morning.
In the local forecast, the rain chances remain high throughout the week.
Due to the rain, the daytime high temperatures shouldn’t get into the 90s.
