FORECAST: Scattered storms, isolated flooding expected north of Charlotte tomorrow
Get ready for another hot and humid day across the Carolinas! Highs will peak in the low 90s with heat indices in the mid-upper 90s. With highs closer to normal for this time of year, it’ll be hot and humid, just not quite as hot and humid as it has been.
Scattered showers and storms will be more abundant Friday compared to Thursday, especially north of Charlotte toward the mountains and foothills. Watch for a low-to-medium risk of flash flooding in these areas, too.
The typical August weather of scattered storms, highs in the low 90s, and high indices near 100° will continue into the weekend. No day is a washout, but we’ll keep an eye out for storms each afternoon and evening.
The first U.S. Drought Monitor of August is out and both states saw pretty consistent numbers. Drier-than-normal conditions still persist for 46% of North Carolina and 21% of South Carolina.
