Hurricane Ian Continues Impacting Parts of the Texas Gulf Coast
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Hurricane Ian has drifted off to the eastern coast of the United States, and marine conditions across the Middle Texas Coast will gradually improve over the coming days.
Locally, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect through 1:00 a.m. Saturday and a HIGH-Risk Rip Current Advisory will remain effective until 7:00 a.m. Saturday.
Minor coastal flooding continues along the Gulf-facing beaches during high tide producing dangerous swimming conditions.
Residents visiting the beach should park along access roads and walk to the beach. The City will notify the Texas General Land Office of any access road closures due to water inundation.
City lifeguards will be located on beach access roads and use mobile units to respond to emergencies. The City has placed message boards at beach access roads advising the public of water and beach conditions.
Visitors should observe and follow the flag warning system to stay updated about surf and rip current conditions.
