FORECAST: Tracking severe weather in the Carolinas
Flash flooding is possible this week as the Carolinas will likely see rain every day.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Today:
Cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, a few could be strong with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. The chance of rain is near 70-90%. The main threat from these storms will be gusty winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall.
Tuesday-Thursday:
A very rainy pattern this week with an upper low trapped over the region. This will pump lots of tropical moisture into the area . Some rain could be very heavy, mainly in the mountains and foothills where flash flooding is possible. Each day the rainfall chance will be 50-80% with highs only in the mid to upper 70s. Some areas could see 3-6″ of rainfall by the end of the week. Locally heavier amounts are possible.
Tropical Update:
Tropical Depression Number Three has formed over the Central Atlantic, around 1400 miles east of the southern Windward Islands. It has sustained winds at 35 mph and is moving west at 21 mph. Within the next few days, it’s expected to become a hurricane—named Bret.
There is another wave behind that which has a lower chance of developing— around 40% over the next 7 days.
