Tropical Storm Idalia could disrupt travel at RDU during Labor Day Weekend

The Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is monitoring Tropical Storm Idalia, which could disrupt travel during the busy Labor Day weekend.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there have been six cancellations and seven delays.
In a 10 a.m. press conference, RDU’s staff warned Idalia could disrupt service.
Several airports in Florida closed, causing hundreds of cancellations.
“It feels good, glad we got here,” Bridgett Bosworth, RDU traveler, said.
Bosworth and her daughter are two travelers who made it out of Orlando and landed at RDU.
“We were supposed to fly out of Orlando around 9:50,” Bosworth said. “It was just delayed, it wasn’t so bad.”
The airport is urging travelers to check with their airlines before leaving for the airport to see if their flights are still on time.
RDU expects about 250,000 passengers to travel through the airport over the next five days. The airport is prepared to handle any disruptions caused by Idalia, but travelers are encouraged to be flexible with their travel plans.
