A busy weather forecast is ahead for Central Texas as we track multiple rounds of rain and storms for the late week and this weekend. A few of these storms could be strong to severe, and there is also potential for some localized flooding.
The forecast for storm timing on Friday remains tricky. It now looks like we will have a round of fairly widespread rain and storms move through during the morning between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. A few of these storms could be on the strong side with hail, but overall the severe risk during the morning looks fairly low.
There will be another round of scattered storms during the afternoon and evening between 4 p.m. and midnight. These storms will be more hit or miss, but will likely bring a higher risk for severe weather. The primary threat will be large hail, but strong winds or an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out. There is also a risk for localized, minor flooding.
Additional rounds of rain and storms will move through on both Saturday and Sunday. It won’t be raining constantly this weekend, but we certainly recommend having a back up plan for any outdoor activities. The severe weather risk looks lower over the weekend, but there could still be a flood threat especially on Saturday.
Between now and the start of next week we expect a widespread 1 to 2 inches or more of rain for most of the KVUE area. The forecast trends drier for the first half of next week.
