Build your hurricane season preparedness kits this tax-free weekend

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — This weekend is the perfect time to get a head start on hurricane season preparations.
That’s because Saturday through Sunday emergency preparation supplies will be tax exempt.
For shoppers who can’t make it to the store you can also take advantage of the tax exempt weekend online to purchase anything from portable generators to first aid kits.
Ace Hardware General Manager Katie Putnam gave 3NEWS a few ideas of items that are tax free right now.
“Tarps, make sure you have batteries for all your flashlights — any battery-operated devices make sure you have the correct sizes — flashlights, headlamps, axes, a first aid kit,” Putnam said.
The tax-free holiday for emergency supplies ends midnight on Monday!
