At least 4 dead in Houston as severe weather slams area, city confirms

HOUSTON — The City of Houston said at least four people were killed Thursday as severe weather slammed the Houston area.
It’s unclear how the people died, but powerlines and trees were knocked down across the city.
The storms raced through the city firing off a series of tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings.
CenterPoint reported nearly 1 million customers without power for part of the evening and into the night.
Houston ISD, the state’s largest district, canceled classes for Friday due to the widespread damage and power outages across the city.
