First named storm of the 2024 hurricane season forms in the Gulf of Mexico
(WWAY) — The first named storm of the 2024 hurricane season has formed.
Alberto developed late Wednesday in the Gulf of Mexico.
As of 11:00 a.m., Alberto has sustained winds of 40 miles per hour.
It is tracking west at nine miles per hour and is expected to make landfall in Mexico by Thursday morning.
The system will bring no impact to the Cape Fear.
The next name on the list is Beryl.
