Here’s the latest on the severe threat and timing. AUSTIN, Texas — A busy week of weather continues for Central Texas with widespread rain and storms expected for Wednesday night. A severe weather system is stretching across the southern U.S. from Texas to the Gulf Coast and Florida. The storms are expected to bring hail, strong winds, tornadoes and flash flooding. CBS News correspondent Omar Villafranca has the latest from Texas.

A tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for much of Central Texas, including Williamson and Burnet counties. Travis County is not currently under any watches or warnings. Austin was ravaged by severe storms Thursday night. PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — Texas lived up to its reputation as “Flash Flood Alley” with the severe storms Thursday evening.  Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2 and the Pflugerville Fire Department rescued 16 people from cars in Williamson and Travis Counties.
