GALVESTON, Texas (FOX 26) – Firefighters and police officers duked it out Saturday night at the 10th Annual Galveston Battle of the Badges. The event pits police officers against firefighters in an amateur boxing competition — all for a good cause. Last year’s event was right after Hurricane Harvey and raised over $50,000 for local charities. The Santa Fe Strong Resiliency Center also honored some first responders who were there during the Santa Fe tragedy.

A child is in the hospital after being shot during a robbery. Police responded to shots fired at the T-Mobile store on Tidwell at Airline in North Houston. Hundreds of Texas firefighters started heading to California on Monday morning to help battle wildfires burning in Southern California.  Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Sunday that 200 firefighters, 55 fire engines and personnel from the Texas A&M Forest Service will be on their way. The Woolsey Fire, burning just northwest of Los Angeles, had scorched more than 83,000 acres as of Sunday and is only 10 percent contained. At least two people have died. Meantime, at…

HOUSTON, TX – Texas firefighters are answering the call to help the California firefighters after the deadly wildfires have devastated California communities.  Texas is now deploying 200 firefighters to the California.   At least 31 people have died so far and hundreds are unaccounted for. The Camp Fire  in Northern California is just 25% contained, and the Woolsey fire in Southern California is just 15% contained.
