WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) –

The UNCW men’s tennis team isn’t on campus, but still trying to give back to those affected by Hurricane Florence.

The Seahawks were answering phones at a Red Cross fundraiser at NBC affiliate WCNC in Charlotte.

“We have been working the phones to help take donations for the Hurricanes Florence,” said UNCW freshman Dillon Gooch.

The Seahawks stayed in Charlotte at the house of teammate Dillon Gooch. This after they learned they wouldn’t be able to return to Wilmington after playing a tournament in Georgia.

Gooch and his teammate trying to make the best of a bad situation.

“Lots of people are willing to donate and it’s great that so many people are willing to help,” said Gooch.
