NWS confirms Columbus County tornado on Sunday

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) –

A tornado touched down in Columbus County on Sunday. 

According to the National Weather Service, the tornado touched down around 10:38 p.m. near Tabor City. About 50 large trees were snapped or uprooted and a few roofs were damaged. One carport was destroyed.

Evidence showed winds of 105 miles per hour.
