Meteorologist

KRIV-TV, Fox 26 in Houston, Texas, the Gulf Coast Weather Authority, is looking for a weekend morning meteorologist. The right candidate must be able to provide weather forecasts for all platforms, including broadcast, web and social. Experience with radar, severe weather and hurricane forecasting required. We are looking for someone who can report from the studio and in the field. Must be willing to video edit weather material and the ability to write and produce weather and news feature content a plus.

A minimum of five years’ experience working as a weather anchor in a medium or top 25 market is preferred. Must have a polished on air presentation with a strong basis in science. A strong social media presence is a plus. This is a rare opening at a station that takes weather seriously. Degree in meteorology preferred. Digital Content Creator

RESPONSIBILITIES: Create compelling, UX-focused content related to news, events and topics relevant to local users and beyond, including text stories, photos/graphics, live streaming content, breaking news, and social media elements. Engage and build loyalty among communities. Serve as liaison to newsroom, ensuring digital and social dominance. Reach and engage users on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and beyond. Work with Group Content Team and other FTS markets to distribute high-interest stories at scale. Follow group standards. Monitor real-time analytics. Other duties as deemed necessary and assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: 3+ years’ experience developing and publishing content, including news, on digital and social platforms preferred. BA/BS degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications or related field with emphasis on digital publishing. Excellent writer and storyteller. Superior news judgement. Impeccable writing and copy editing skills. Overwhelming attention to detail. Thrive under deadline pressure. Stellar communication skills. Social media expert. Proficient in content management systems, video publishing, live streaming, and digital analytics tools. Video and photo editing experience (Adobe products a plus). Production Technician

KRIV FOX 26, the FOX O&O located in Houston, Texas, is accepting applications for a Full-Time Production Technician position. Responsibilities of the position include switching and coding with the Ross Overdrive Automation System. Duties will also include but not limited to audio, knowledge of Chyron graphics operation software, robotic camera operation, tune-in microwave live shots, lighting, flooring for live newscast and pre-recorded programming.

Prior broadcast experience in a live control room environment as a traditional director / technical director within a medium to large market experience is preferred. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours; early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays may be required. Will also be required to cover vacation & sick leave and all other duties as assigned. Looking for someone with strong work ethic and the ability to handle multiple tasks under high pressure while maintaining a team approach to all assignments. Producer

KRIV-TV, the Fox O&O in Houston, TX is seeking a dynamic, passionate and creative Producer. If you are a producer who loves live television, wants to innovate and develop a news program beyond the traditional newscast and has strong journalistic standards. KRIV wants you to join our team! You will be expected to have complete line producing skills including: writing and editing, developing a rundown, creating graphics as well as video editing. Thorough knowledge of social media and how to manage social media engagement preferred. Our producer must be a strong communicator and have leadership skills and be able to give direction while at the same time being a team-player and collaborator. You must have strong live control room skills and be able to write accurately and quickly particularly in breaking news situations. Must fully participate in the editorial process that leads to story development and work with reporters to bring their stories to air. You may be required to perform other duties including but not limited to: desktop editing, digital content production, field producing, occasional assignment desk duties and special projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field required. Two to three (3) years’ experience as a show Producer in a medium to major television market is required. Must be able to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and multitask. Ideal candidate must be able to use newsroom computer systems (I-news preferred) and graphics programs. Maintenance Technician

KRIV Fox 26/KTXH My 20 in Houston, TX are looking for a SNG/ENG Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will drive the Satellite News Gathering vehicle or Electronic News Gathering vehicle to news story locations and establishes satellite or microwave transmission to the station as well as sets up and connects appropriate cables and portable microwave equipment to establish clear video and audio signals for broadcast. Responsible for operating audio, video and transmission equipment for live remote broadcasts The SNG Technician will operate equipment at the station to receive satellite and microwave signals; communicates with field crews to establish those signals, and monitors the quality of those signals once established. Communicate effectively with news managers and producers about the status of satellite and microwave transmissions. Maintain all assigned equipment and tools in good operating condition. Assist with routine vehicle and electronic maintenance. Shoot video and audio recordings in the field, newsroom, and studio as well as collect information and obtain sound at the scene of news events. Edit news stories on deadline in the field and in the newsroom and assist others with news gathering operations when needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Two years’ experience as an SNG/ENG Technician and/or photojournalist at a commercial television station. Prior experience with Satellite News Gathering vehicle, Electronic News Gathering vehicle, Bitcentral, Video Camera & Related Accessories, Microphones, Mixers & other Field Audio Equipment, LiveU Networks Backpack preferred. Working knowledge of microwave/satellite equipment. Demonstrated skill or ability to develop skill in video photography and editing on deadline. Communicate clearly and deal effectively/politely with co-workers and the public. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Must have a valid credit card and be willing to travel for news events.
