A line of strong storms will make its way across South Carolina on Friday, bringing heavy rain, wind gusts up to 50 mph and the possibility of tornadoes across the state, according to the National Weather Service.
“Storms will be moving very quickly today,” the National Weather Service warns. Forecasters say the storms will move into South Carolina Friday morning and sweep across the state.
NWSThe main threat for the Midlands region is possible wind gusts over 60 mph. Forecasters say they expect the storms to move through the Columbia area midday.
The Grand Strand and Pee Dee areas could see “widespread damaging winds of 50-70 mph, isolated destructive wind gusts above 70mph and isolated tornadoes this afternoon and evening,” according to Weather Service forecasters in Wilmington.
Forecasters say much of the area could see an inch or more of rain, with up to 3 or 4 inches in isolated areas.
