A tornado warning has been issued for parts of the Triangle, including Johnston County and surrounding areas, forecasters say.
The warning is in effect until 11 a.m. for southwestern Nash County, northwestern Wilson County and Northeastern Johnston County.
Threats include tornadoes and penny-sized hail, the weather service says.
Tornado warnings are issued when twisters have been observed, and they indicate people should take action to protect themselves, according to the National Weather Service.
