Second confirmed death in Gaston Co. as severe weather moves through the Carolinas
GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A second person has died on the roadways as severe weather moves through the Carolinas, NC Highway Patrol confirmed.
Troopers report a driver was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger heading down Doc Wehunt Road Thursday morning in Gaston County when he hydroplaned and the car fell down an embankment and landed upside down in a creek.
The driver was identified as Terry Rodger Fisher of Cherryville, NC. He was pronounced dead on the scene by officials.
The first confirmed death due to weather happened in York County. A driver died after a tree fell on the car on Pleasant Road, about three miles from Fort Mill.

A massive storm system dumping heavy rain on the Carolinas with reports of flooding in the area on Thursday.
There have been multiple confirmed tornados on the ground in the area.
