Tropical Storm Elsa knocks down trees passing through North Carolina
As Tropical Storm Elsa continued to pass through North Carolina on Thursday, the storm’s heavy rains and windy conditions toppled trees as along with it.
Emmogene Perez, who had just spent her first night in her new Hope Mills home, returned to find a tree had fallen on her home.
“I thought the house was on fire,” recalled Perez. “The firemen told me a tree had fallen on a power line.”
Fortunately, the tree did not break through the ceiling of the bathroom, where it had fallen over. Perez’s home also had power, despite the incident.
Back in the Triangle, a tree took down an entire power line pole with it on Glen Eden Drive in Raleigh.
Line workers were seen working on getting the lines out from across the street.
According to Duke Energy’s power outage map, around 50 people were without power from the pole snapping in half.
