Gov. Cooper Says Hurricane Dorian Has Left North Carolina
Governor Roy Cooper said today that Hurricane Dorian has finally left North Carolina. Cooper said the storm has left Ocracoke Island, Cape Hatteras and other parts of the Outer Banks severely damaged and without power.
“Currently we have more than 135,000 power outages. And more than 81 road closures from flooding or debris.”
Cooper said meanwhile conditions are returning to normal in the southeastern part of the state. Adding many of the shelters have closed and some local authorities have lifted their evacuation orders.
Cooper said state emergency teams are on the ground in the Outer Banks looking for victims of Hurricane Dorian, but for now, there is a lot to be thankful for.
“We’re thankful not to have reports of serious injuries or death since the storm arrived.”
The center of Hurricane Dorian is forecast to move to the southeast of New England Friday night into Saturday morning, approaching Nova Scotia later on Saturday.
The Canadian Hurricane Center has issued a Hurricane Warning for eastern Nova Scotia.
