Flood Advisory issued for Wilson, Nash and Johnston counties

Raleigh, N.C. — The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Wilson, Nash and Johnston counties until 10:15 p.m. on Friday. The NWS said that heavy rain due to thunderstorms will cause urban and small stream flooding.

After a rainy past three days, drier weather is on the way for the weekend.

WRAL meteorologist Kat Campbell said there could be fog on Saturday morning when you wake up.

“It’s not going to stay that way all day,” she added.

Campbell it will be a typical June weekend.

There will be small rain chances, though for the weekend but Saturday will only have a 20 percent chance and Sunday a 30 percent chance.

“These will be typical, isolated summertime afternoon storms,” said Campbell.

It will be a warm weekend with temperatures in the upper 80s on both days.

“It is going to be muggy this weekend,” said Campbell. “Dewpoints are in the 60s.”

With dewpoints in the 60s, temperatures could feel in the 90s at times, according to Campbell.

It was a wet start to the month, with 3.8 inches of rain recorded at RDU so far in June.

“The June average is 3.89, so we’re almost there already — just 4 days in,” said Campbell.

While Raleigh received about 2.4 inches of rain, other towns such as Greensboro received upwards of 6 inches of rain.
