HOUSTON — The National Weather Service in League City has issued a Tornado Warning for southwestern Montgomery County and northwestern Harris County until 9:30 a.m. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Pinehurst, moving east at 20 to 30 mph.

Cold front this morning is expected to bring scattered showers with a few thunderstorms. The severe weather threat to the Houston area is low but we are expecting gusty winds as the front passes through.

This system is expected to be a quick mover and will clear our area by lunchtime.

Skies will rapidly clear and it will turn out to be a really nice day with temps reaching the middle- to upper-80s.

However, don’t let your guard down after the showers pass.

There is a Red Flag Warning from 1 to 7 p.m. today. Lowering relative humidities and elevated west winds this afternoon could produce conditions that may become favorable for any wildfire to quickly become uncontained, especially with grass fires.

Winds shift tonight allowing drier air to pour in. This will set us up for a beautiful second half of the week with plenty of sunshine and temps in the upper 70s.
